Man jailed on child endangerment charge
SAEN

Police arrested a 24-year-old man accused of leaving his 3-year-old daughter and his 8-month-old baby home alone for nearly two hours Tuesday while his girlfriend went to work.

Anthony Lee Mason was in jail Wednesday on $30,000 bond for two counts of child endangerment. Investigators said residents found the toddler wandering around her West Side apartment complex in the 500 block of South Acme Road about 11 a.m.

Police found the 8-month-old baby alone inside a filthy apartment with a foul odor, dirty dishes and drug paraphernalia. The 3-year-old, who could not talk, was wearing a diaper and drinking from a bottle, investigators said.

An incident report indicates the children were left alone for at least one hour and 45 minutes. Mason was supposed to be watching the children while the mother was at work.
