A San Antonio man convicted of fatally stabbing a man during a robbery at a near-downtown motel was ordered Tuesday to serve life in prison without parole.
State District Judge Maria Teresa Herr issued the mandatory sentence minutes after jurors found Charleton Bradshaw, 27, guilty of capital murder. The group deliberated about 31/2 hours.
Bradshaw, whose friends and family filled the seats behind him in the courtroom, had no visible reaction as the verdict was announced. No one from the family of victim James Jerome Holmes, an Alabama resident who arrived at the motel on the day he was killed, attended the trial.
