Man gets 65-year prison term for killing father
By Craig Kapitan - Express-NewsA San Antonio man whose mother testified against him after he killed his father was sentenced by a jury Friday to 65 years in prison.
Marilyn Smith wept outside the courtroom after the verdict was announced by state District Judge Sid Harle. Her son, Kristopher Lee Smith, 36, will have to serve at least 30 years before he can apply for parole.
By the time he's eligible, he will be five years older than his father, Elton Smith, when he bled to death at their Leon Springs home in September 2009.
