Summertime Blues

Luckily for him he may not have been drunk enough to not understand what the homeowner would have done after the homeowner fired his shotgun into the air.

Record crowds this past Memorial Day weekend in New Braunfels and Comal County means this kind of stupidity.

There was this incident as well as a stabbing at the tube chute.

Welcome to Summer!!

Man charged with burglary after breaking windows

A Fort Hood man was charged with burglary after a drunken attempt to break into a home in downtown New Braunfels on Saturday afternoon.

At around 3:15 p.m., New Braunfels police were called to 200 Gilbert Ave. after receiving reports of gunshots in connection with an out of control and possibly mentally ill man who was breaking windows.

Officers arrived to find David Hernandez-Reyes, 22, sitting on a curb on the 300 block of Tolle Street, bleeding heavily from his right arm.

An NBPD press release said a heavily intoxicated Hernandez-Reyes had been trying to break into the home using his shoulder. The homeowner told him to get off his property, but he came back and started breaking windows with his fists.

The homeowner then took out a shotgun and fired it into the air, which made Hernandez-Reyes leave. NBPD officers, according to the release, promptly arrested him.

He was taken to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-New Braunfels where he was treated for his wounds and released into custody. He was charged with burglary of a habitation and booked into Comal County Jail.
