SAWS bills mistakenly increased by a factor of 100
By Colin McDonald - Express-News The detail of a decimal made some San Antonio Water System customers gasp Thursday morning.
Almost 1,100 bills were e-mailed to customers with the classic error of the decimal point in the wrong place.
So a bill of $45.46, which is close to average, appeared as $4,546.00. The bill included a note that if the charge was not paid by May 4, a $200 late fee would be tacked on.
One recipient of an erroneous bill said it almost made him faint.
