Not according to witnesses who said that after being found guilty told the deceased's sister the now-convicted defendant, "that %&^*()% still ain't coming back."

Murder convict Rudy Perez appeared to wipe a tear from his eye Monday afternoon as his mother wept on the witness stand and asked jurors for mercy for her son.
Perez, who faces up to life in prison for ordering the stabbing of an uninvited guest at his party in 2007, then took the stand for the first time since his murder trial began April 13. As he sat in front of the court, he looked into his lap and with a solemn voice apologized to George Estrada Jr.'s family.
“I didn't mean for nothing like this to happen,” said Perez, 22. “We just wanted to have a party and have a good time.”
