S.A. police officer assaulted on East Side

San Antonio police had one suspect in custody and were searching for another man after a patrolman was assaulted Wednesday afternoon on the city's East Side, officials said.
Officer Alfred Cruz did not suffer major injuries, but while struggling with the assailants he was kicked in the head, San Antonio police Sgt. Gary Palfrey said. Cruz also had abrasions on both arms and a torn uniform, Palfrey said.
A 19-year-old man was in custody and was being questioned by detectives, Palfrey said. The identity of the man, who was uninjured, was not immediately released.
