Drink to me only with thine eyes.....

Tell me something I didn't suspect.  Bexar County and this area has a higher than average number of binge drinking and the like?

Let's see there's Rodeo, Fiesta, Wurstfest, Strawberry Festival, etc.  What I am glad to see however, is that the trends are decreasing.

I chalk that up mainly to the good works of the DWI task force in Bexar County, DPS, aggressive prosecution by the Bexar County DA's Office, Comal County DA's Office, as well as all tghe other local prosecutor's offices, and an increasingly fed-up public who are becoming less tolerant of repeat offenders.

More binge drinkers in Bexar than state, nation
By Valentino Lucio - Express-News

Binge drinking among local adults is higher than both the state and national average, but has significantly decreased since 2006 — a sign that appears to be indicative of a trend, according to a recently published report issued by two substance abuse prevention groups.

The report, compiled using the most recent available government surveys and data, also says underage drinking ranks higher in Bexar County than in the nation and that the average first-time use of alcohol occurs at 12 years old.

The San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Circles of San Antonio Community Coalition released the report in preparation for the Texans Standing Tall Regional Forum to be held March 26 in San Antonio.
