IMHO its a poorly designed on-ramp as it combines the on-ramp to westbound 1606 with the exit ramp for Blanco Rd. and Huebner Rd.


Off-duty officer in fatal crash

An off-duty San Antonio police officer may have failed to yield the right-of-way when he entered a far North Side highway early Sunday morning and collided with a sport-utility vehicle whose driver died in the crash.

Sgt. Gabe Trevino, a former spokesman for the Police Department, was driving a city-owned blue Chevrolet Impala around midnight when he entered a ramp to westbound Loop 1604 near Stone Oak Parkway and made contact with a maroon Jeep Liberty. The SUV rolled several times, flipped over a concrete guardrail and landed in the eastbound lanes, according to a police incident report.

Rosita Davila, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, Maria Elena Rodriguez, remained in stable condition at University Hospital.
