New Braunfels police will double bike-mounted river officers
New Braunfels’ river police will be doubling up on their numbers of bike-mounted officers on weekends this summer, said Sgt. Chris Snyder, chief of the Community Response Unit.
Also, with drought keeping water levels low in the Guadalupe River, the river police will start the summer with just one boat rather than the standard two on the Guadalupe — and on the weekends are planning to shift more officers over to the Comal River, where crowds are expected to be heavier because tubing flows are spring-fed and stronger.
