Man who blamed sexual advance for murder gets 40 years
By Craig Kapitan - Express-NewsNewly convicted killer Cody James Carmichael wept Thursday as he was placed in a jury box and forced to watch a lengthy photo slideshow depicting a young man he shot execution style a year ago.
Carmichael, 22, was sentenced to 40 years in prison minutes after pleading guilty to murder in the Feb. 21, 2010, slaying of acquaintance Troy Martinez Clattenburg, 24, inside a North Side apartment the victim shared with his mother.
State District Judge Sid Harle approved the plea agreement.
