Man gets 5 years prison for child's fractured wrist
By Craig Kapitan - Express-NewsA San Antonio man accused of fracturing his developmentally delayed stepson's wrist during a punishment session was ordered Friday to serve five years in prison.
Omar McVae Rucker, who turns 32 today, pleaded no contest last month to injury to a child causing serious bodily injury in exchange for a maximum sentence of five years and a chance to ask for probation. State District Judge Lori Valenzuela denied his request.
Authorities said Rucker acknowledged slapping the boy's hands last September after the 5-year-old soiled himself on a bus home from school, but he said he didn't think the punishment got out of hand.
