Shots fired

Wow, sounds like a pretty busy two days in New Braunfels for the PD.

First, rounding up perverts in the park and this.

Police standoff ends with arrest of man

-

A New Braunfels man involved in a domestic dispute was arrested Monday night following a standoff with police.

Officials from New Braunfels Police Department said they heard gunshots when they responded to a disturbance call at a house in the 1800 block of Kuehler Ave. near the Camp Comal Softball Complex at around 6:30 p.m.

A 40-year-old man had fired several shots from a handgun during an argument with the mother of their 6-year-old child, according to NBPD Lt. Mike Penshorn. No one was injured during the dispute, and the child was not in the home.

The man’s identity was not released by NBPD.

The woman exited the house when police arrived, Penshorn said, although the man initially refused to leave.

NBPD’s Special Response Team and negotiators were called to the scene, and after an hour-and-a-half, the man was peacefully taken into custody.

No charges had been officially lodged against the man as of press time, although Penshorn said he would likely face a charge of aggravated assault.
