Hays deputy dies from crash injuries

A Hays County sheriff’s deputy who was struck by a car as he rode his bicycle to work Aug. 25 died Thursday afternoon in Austin’s Brackenridge Hospital.

Fernando Amaya suffered head injuries when he was hit along County Road 150 in Kyle. He was married and had two children, ages 11 and 13.
