Its about time if you ask me.
But you didn't ask me so I am telling you, its about time.
Poteet Mayor Lino Donato, a registered sex offender on probation for indecency with a child, is under investigation by the Texas Rangers, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lisa Block.
District Attorney René Peña asked the Rangers to investigate Donato, she said Thursday. Neither she nor Peña would describe the reason for the probe.
Donato abruptly ended his trial in October on three counts of indecency with a child younger than 17 with a guilty plea on two counts of indecency by exposure and no contest to indecency by contact in exchange for a sentence of deferred adjudication for 10 years and registration as a sex offender for 20 years.

Since then, he has maintained his innocence, refused to resign as mayor and asked for a new trial. He has been unable to attend City Council meetings because proximity to youth would violate his probation.
In early August, Peña filed a petition in Atascosa County asking a judge to remove Donato because of his continued absences at the meetings.
Donato said Thursday he hadn't heard about a new investigation, adding that he was focused on his own fight to stay in office.
