Maybe it was for a religious ceremony?

Don't we kill pigs and eat them anyway?

Portsmouth woman charged with beheading piglet
CHESAPEAKE - A 21-year-old Portsmouth woman has been charged with beheading a piglet and stabbing another one.

Police said Ashley Marie Fowler, of the 3800 block of Caroline Ave., was arrested Wednesday at her workplace. She posted a $15,000 bond and was released that day, authorities said.

The piglets belonged to the 23-year-old son of Janie Sawyer, who discovered the piglet's head on the front porch before she went to work early Tuesday. She lives in the 4000 block of Ballahack Road.

The piglet had been stabbed. Its body was left inside a barn in Sawyer's backyard with another piglet, which was stabbed so badly it had to be euthanized.

"I'm shocked," Sawyer said, adding she has never heard of Fowler. "I'm glad, if it's the right person."

Police said they were still investigating. Fowler was charged with two counts of felony killing/maiming livestock, vandalism and felony possession of Adderall. Fowler also is accused of slashing the tires on the son's pickup.

For each felony, the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison.
