NEW BRAUNFELS — An apparent drunken driver crashed into and damaged a railroad crossing arm and its support Sunday morning in New Braunfels, police said.
After the crash, police arrested Michael Young, 23, of Katy, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, said Capt. John McDonald of the New Braunfels Police Department.
He said a witness called police about 5:05 a.m. Sunday and reported hearing a loud bang that sounded like thunder. The witness reported going outside and seeing that a pickup truck had crashed into the railroad crossing arm in the 1300 block of Landa Street, McDonald said.
