BROWNSVILLE — Border Patrol agents working highway checkpoints near Laredo and Eagle Pass seized more than $9 million in cocaine from two vehicles in a single week.

The drugs, the vehicles and both drivers were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation, Customs and Border Protection said Thursday.

Agents at the Interstate 35 checkpoint north of Laredo seized a 247-pound cocaine load valued at $7 million on April 30. The cellophane-wrapped bundles were found in an inspection of a tractor-trailer.
