We owe these gallant men and women of law enforcement our unswerving support as they go out every day or night never knowing if it might be their last; as they protect you and I and our families from those who would otherwise create anarchy.
God bless those who paid the ultimate price on our behalf and watch over their families.

Police honor the fallen at ceremony

A former Marine who took part in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Jesus Trevino long has been comfortable with a high-risk career.
But as the names of all 49 San Antonio police officers killed in the line of duty since 1857 were read aloud during a memorial service Tuesday, the 30-year-old police recruit couldn't help but contemplate the perils of his new profession.
“At the training academy, the danger of the job is something that we all consider,” he said. “Every time I see the memorial wall, it's a reminder of what's at stake for police officers in our community and what we are a part of.”
Much of that camaraderie was on display Tuesday as several hundred officers and families gathered for a memorial service at the academy.
