Piece of earlobe leads to guilty verdict in rape case
It took jurors about an hour Thursday morning to return a guilty verdict against a San Antonio man who lost a piece of his earlobe during a rape last year.
Daniel Martinez, 31, faces up to life in prison for the aggravated sexual assault that occurred March 29, 2008, on a picnic bench in Elmendorf Park on the West Side.
Prosecutors told jurors that the 32-year-old victim bit off a piece of Martinez's right earlobe, which was later used to help convict him.
