Opening soon!

The work has been, long, arduous, and painstaking but the reward is the restoration to its former glory of the original courthouse.

I had the pleasure to take a quick tour this past Friday and all I could think of was WOW.

Particularly breathtaking was the restoration of the original courtroom to its former 2-story glory, replete with balcony.

Ceremonies to rededicate the newly restored Comal County Courthouse in downtown New Braunfels have been scheduled for Jan. 22.

While workers on Thursday were busy throughout the 115-year-old courthouse, County Judge Sherman Krause told county commissioners that the restoration is expected to be “substantially complete on January 17 — one week from today.”

“We’re getting real close,” said County Engineer Tom Hornseth, who has been instrumental in directing the painstakingly accurate, $8.6 million restoration.
