A sordid tale indeed.

There'll be a movie about Mr. Garcia soon I'm sure.

The law firms and lawyers involved should be looked at.


Firms gave millions to South Texas case runner

EDINBURG — When the novel “The Case Runner” was published last year, portraying a seamy and corrupt South Texas legal jungle, the guessing games soon began among lawyers about the real life inspirations for some of the book's thinly disguised characters.

While lawyer Mikal Watts was an obvious one, others were less so.

When it came to “Willie Hankins,” the book's well-connected case-runner who will stop at nothing short of mayhem to land a lucrative case, the most popular theory was dead wrong, said author Carlos Cisneros, a Brownsville lawyer.
