BROWNSVILLE — A tractor-trailer driver was arrested after agents at an inland immigration checkpoint found more than five tons of marijuana in the broccoli load he was hauling.

Saturday night's seizure occurred after a drug-sniffing dog at the Sarita Border Patrol checkpoint, on U.S. Highway 77 about 90 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, detected the odor of contraband.

Agents found more than 470 bundles of marijuana with a total weight of more than 10,000 pounds.
