Former prosecutor pleads to crack cocaine charge
Former judicial candidate receives deferred adjudication probation.By Craig Kapitan - Express-News
A former Bexar County prosecutor and two-time judicial candidate who was arrested five years ago for purchasing crack cocaine with the help of a client pleaded no contest Monday to the felony drug charge.
In exchange for his plea, Gammon Guinn, 56, who is still a practicing defense attorney, received deferred adjudication probation.
Guinn has no public disciplinary history with the State Bar of Texas, a spokeswoman for the agency said Monday. In general, if a lawyer can avoid a felony conviction by completing deferred adjudication, that person is likely to retain his or her law license, she said.
