S.A. teen faces life in capital murder case

But their grim strategy for accomplishing the goal included luring an acquaintance to a dark parking lot, stabbing him to death with a steak knife and stealing his car, prosecutors said Monday during opening statements for Garza's capital murder trial.
Garza, now 19, faces an automatic sentence of life without parole if jurors in the 290th state District Court find him guilty. Prosecutors opted not to pursue the death penalty.
