Police watchdog under fire for 'trivial pursuits'
By Nick McKenzie- Sidney Morning Herald -

VICTORIA'S powerful police watchdog has been accused by former staff of pursuing trivial cases amid revelations it investigated a country policeman for working an approved second job at a lawn bowls club while on stress leave.

Up to eight employees have quit the Office of Police Integrity over the past 18 months, including several who left due to frustration about the lack of meaningful investigative work and poor morale.

It has sparked fresh debate about how police corruption should be investigated in Victoria, with incoming Coalition minister Andrew McIntosh saying that only serious matters will be pursued by the new government's romised broader anti-corruption agency.
