Good job Rita.
Murder defendant Lawrence Peña told jurors from the witness stand Friday that he was trying to break up a fight between his brother and a man in a postal service cap two years ago when he accidently stabbed the stranger in the heart.
Jurors didn't buy it. It took them about 30 minutes of deliberation to return a guilty verdict.
Peña, 49, could now face up to life in prison for the conviction. The punishment phase of his trial is expected to begin Monday in state district court.
