Suarez found guilty of murder in Saenz's death
NEW BRAUNFELS — Jurors took about five hours deliberating over parts of two days before they returned Thursday and declared Leeroy Suarez guilty of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 2004 knifing of two New Braunfels brothers.
Relatives of the victims sat in the court with baited breath and some exhaled whispers of “Yes,” when District Judge Jack Robison read the verdicts. Some of the relatives smiled and some shed tears after the conclusion of an eight-year ordeal.
The jury sentenced Suarez to 99 years for murder and 20 years for the assault. He will serve the sentences simultaneously.
