Indian arrested for letting son, 9, drive Ferrari
Associated Press -
NEW DELHI (AP) — Police in India have arrested a man who allowed his 9-year-old son to drive his Ferrari.
Mohammed Nisham was arrested on charges of endangering the life of a child and allowing a minor to drive, said Inspector Biju Kumar. He was released after posting bail of 5,000 rupees ($92), Kumar said.
Nisham's
wife filmed the boy driving the sports car on his 9th birthday two
weeks ago with his 5-year-old brother in the passenger seat. The video
was widely watched on YouTube and created an outrage across India,
causing police to file charges.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Four Virginia siblings who never let a rare 5-cent piece slip through their fingers, even when it was declared a fake, have been rewarded for their devotion to a humble family heirloom after the century-old coin sold for more than $3.1 million.
The 1913 Liberty Head nickel, one of only five known to exist, was sold to two bidders for $3.17 million at an auction Thursday night in suburban Chicago.

Schroeder, 73, had largely recovered from two strokes in late 2011 before the setback, which limited his recent service to infrequent courthouse visits and briefings at home.

Calif. bill would let non-citizens serve on juries
By JUDY LIN - Associated Press
SACRAMENTO,
California (AP) -- The California Assembly passed a bill on Thursday
that would make the state the first in the nation to allow non-citizens
who are in the country legally to serve on jury duty.
Assemblyman
Bob Wieckowski, D-Fremont, said his bill, AB1401, would help California
widen the pool of prospective jurors and help integrate immigrants into
the community.
It does not change other
criteria for being eligible to serve on a jury, such as being at least
18, living in the county that is making the summons, and being
proficient in English.

Even so, his opinion offered a strong rebuke to an initiative President Barack Obama touted throughout his re-election bid to woo Latino voters and comes amid a White House push to legalize millions more immigrants living in the country illegally.

Will the Judicial Conduct Commission remove him from the Bench?
After all the Judge presiding over the Court of Inquiry made a finding that Judge Anderson subverted justice while he was the DA in Williamson County.
Will he be punished by a system he swore to uphold?
Will he be punished because his actions caused an innocent man to spend 25 years in prison for something he did not do?
Naaah, the good old boy system will probably protect him.
Georgetown — Former
Williamson County District Attorney Ken Anderson was arrested and
booked into jail and then released on bail Friday after a specially
convened court found that he intentionally hid evidence to secure
Michael Morton’s 1987 conviction for murder.
In a blunt and scathing ruling, District Judge Louis Sturns said Anderson acted to defraud the trial court and Morton’s defense lawyers, resulting in an innocent man serving almost 25 years in prison.
“This court cannot think of a more intentionally harmful act than a prosecutor’s conscious choice to hide mitigating evidence so as to create an uneven playing field for a defendant facing a murder charge and a life sentence,” Sturns said.
Sturns, presiding over a court of inquiry that examined the Morton prosecution, found probable cause to believe that Anderson broke two state laws and committed criminal contempt of court for lying to Morton’s trial judge. He then signed a warrant for Anderson’s arrest as required under state law governing courts of inquiry.

Lehmberg had been placed in an isolation cell for protective custody but she refused several orders to stop kicking the cell door and was put in “the emergency restraint chair,” the records say.
According to an inmate incident report, Lehmberg also resisted a pat-down, refused to comply with officers, tried to scratch and grab an officer’s hand and yelled.
She was handcuffed and “leg-ironed,” according to the report.

Long before alcoholic Christopher Hughes Lamar caused the deaths of a fourth-grader and her mother on a San Antonio freeway last year, his own parent had predicted the devastating wreck.
“I felt in my heart ... something very bad was going to happen,” teacher Linda Lamar told jurors Friday during the punishment phase of her son's double murder trial. “I told Chris that he was either going to maim or kill somebody if he didn't stop drinking and driving.”
Christopher Lamar, 27, on Thursday became the first person in Bexar County to be convicted of felony murder instead of intoxication manslaughter because of his previous driving while intoxicated offenses.

WATERTOWN, Mass.
(AP) -- The two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing killed an
MIT police officer and hurled explosives at police in a car chase and
gun battle overnight that left one of them dead and his brother on the
loose, authorities said Friday as thousands of officers swarmed the
streets in a manhunt that all but paralyzed the Boston area.
The
suspects were identified by law enforcement officials and a family
member as Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, brothers from a Russian region
near Chechnya, which has been plagued by an Islamic insurgency stemming
from separatist wars.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev,
known to the FBI as Suspect No. 1 and seen in surveillance footage in a
black baseball cap, was killed in a gun battle with police in
Massachusetts overnight, officials said. His 19-year-old brother -
dubbed as Suspect No. 2 and seen wearing a white, backwards baseball cap
in the images from Monday's deadly bombing at the marathon finish line -
escaped.

Law of Unintended Consequences at work
Law of Unintended consequences at work here.
Use extreme caution.
The Affordable Care Act — also known as ObamaCare – is designed to help provide health insurance coverage for those who are least able to pay.
But exhibition execs attending CinemaCon this week are quietly planning to minimize the law’s impact on them when it takes full effect in 2014, even if it means penalizing part time employees who might stand to benefit.
Theaters are most concerned about a provision that requires companies to provide coverage for those working at least 30 hours a week, not just full-time employees who work at least 40 hours. So, guess what? Theaters are beginning to reduce part timers’ to less than 30 hours a week.
“All of [the major theater companies] are making adjustments in the workforce,” Stephen Gooding, President of Reynolds & Reynolds — an insurance firm that specializes in exhibition concerns — tells me. When it comes to preparing for the changes “the very large circuits are ahead of the curve, but the smaller and midsized ones are just realizing and going ‘Oh, my’.”

Supreme Court ruling already felt in San Antonio
Express-News
The fact that alcohol dissipates from the bloodstream over time does not by itself give police the right to draw blood without a warrant in drunken-driving investigations, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.
The ruling immediately got the attention of attorneys in Texas, where warrantless blood draws are allowed by state statute for intoxication manslaughter cases, third-time driving while intoxicated offenses or intoxication assault cases in which someone has been sent to the hospital.
While the court's ruling appears to be “extremely narrow” and not pertaining to Texas law, it does leave a lot of questions unanswered, said Cliff Herberg, Bexar County's first assistant district attorney.

BOSTON (AP) — In what could be a major break in the Boston Marathon case, investigators are on the hunt for a man seen in a department store surveillance video dropping off a bag at the site of the bombings, a local politician said Wednesday.
Separately, a law enforcement official confirmed that authorities have found an image of a potential suspect but don't know his name.
The development — less than 48 hours after the attack, which left three people dead and more than 170 wounded — marked a possible turning point in a case that has investigators analyzing photos and videos frame by frame for clues to who carried out the twin bombings and why.

Also, a mother and son are accused of teaming to steal thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from an elderly woman, the documents show.
Indictments for the three were unavailable earlier in the week after Comal County Criminal District Attorney Jennifer Tharp released a list of those grand jurors indicted April 10.
On that day, the panel handed up indictments accusing Zachary Alexander Woods, 18, of Canyon Lake, of assaulting one man with a knife, another man with a “tire checker” and a third man with a metal pipe. The court documents show that the grand jury found enough evidence existed to charge Alexander with kidnapping a woman and the man he assaulted with the metal pipe.

Unbelieveable? .... nope its what is politically correct think, apparently
Just what the hell goes through someone's mind when they write shit like this?
Is everything politicized? Can we wait until we determine WTF happened?
I don't think that's too much to ask for.
As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.
This has been most obvious in the context of recent mass shootings. In those awful episodes, a religious or ethnic minority group lacking such privilege would likely be collectively slandered and/or targeted with surveillance or profiling (or worse) if some of its individuals comprised most of the mass shooters. However, white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated/targeted for those shootings — even though most come at the hands of white dudes.
Likewise, in the context of terrorist attacks, such privilege means white non-Islamic terrorists are typically portrayed not as representative of whole groups or ideologies, but as “lone wolf” threats to be dealt with as isolated law enforcement matters. Meanwhile, non-white or developing-world terrorism suspects are often reflexively portrayed as representative of larger conspiracies, ideologies and religions that must be dealt with as systemic threats — the kind potentially requiring everything from law enforcement action to military operations to civil liberties legislation to foreign policy shifts.

The Sentinel-Standard of Ionia and MLive.com report Judge Raymond Voet has a posted policy at Ionia County 64A District Court. It states that electronic devices causing a disturbance during court sessions will result in the owner being cited with contempt.
On Friday afternoon, during a prosecutor's closing argument during a jury trial, Voet's new smartphone began to emit sounds requesting phone voice commands. Voet says he thinks he bumped the phone, and the embarrassment likely left his face red.
During a break in the trial, Voet fined himself. He says if he can't live by the rules he enforces he has no business enforcing the rules.

Williams was booked into Kaufman County Jail early Saturday morning for making terroristic threats and 'insufficient bond.' He is being held on a $3million bond.

The court opinion ends a long legal dispute over the money given to Juan Catala by David S. Vogel, a Providence attorney who ran for Congress last fall as an independent. But despite the ruling from the high court, Catala said he'll never repay his former friend.
"I'll go to jail before I give him a dollar," Catala told The Associated Press.

Cops say man hid girlfriend's body under bed for three days
By Michelle Casady - Express-News
A man who confessed to killing his live-in girlfriend hid her body under their bed for three days before moving it to a vacant house next door, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Saturday.
Robert Myers Jr., 40, has been in jail since April 2 on theft, criminal mischief and drug charges, but a murder charge was added Friday after police said he confessed to killing Cecelia Stegall, 50, whose remains were found Wednesday in the 200 block of Paschal Street.
On March 18, an anonymous caller reported to Crime Stoppers that three months earlier Myers had stabbed Stegall to death and hid her body under a nearby house or possibly a stairwell, the affidavit says. Searching the vacant house, police found Stegall's remains wrapped in a blanket in a closet under the stairwell.
