Area crashes claim five lives
By Express-News staffIn a little more than 24 hours following Monday's triple-fatal accident on Interstate 35, five more people died in three crashes in and around San Antonio.
The first came Monday morning when two drivers were killed and a third was badly injured in a McMullen County accident that involved heavy trucks apparently related to the Eagle Ford Shale play.
The wreck occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on Texas 72 about 10 miles east of Tilden, when a tractor-trailer rig driven by Ramiro Cavasos of Edinburg veered across the centerline and hit two oncoming rigs, the Department of Public Safety said.
