More on the unemployment line

Boy, what a nightmare this is turning out to be for those caught up in all of this.

I hope those "furloughed" can find meaningful employment quickly.


Scooter Store staff classified as jobless

The Scooter Store may say it's furloughed most of its workforce, but the Texas Workforce Commission considers those workers jobless — and therefore eligible for unemployment checks.

That's because The Scooter Store, a major supplier of power wheelchairs and scooters to the elderly and disabled, hasn't specified a return-to-work date for the furloughed workers.

The TWC, which administers unemployment benefits and workforce development services, calls The Scooter Store's decision to furlough most of its 1,800-person workforce a “permanent layoff.”
