Rest stop closures could shutter small Texas town

Judge Roy Bean put the little Texas town of Langtry on the map as the American West was won, once fining a corpse $40 for carrying a concealed weapon there.
Proposed legislation that would close the Langtry travel center, could take the community off the map, leaders now are warning.
Officials in Val Verde County are fighting a plan to privatize or close Texas' 12 travel information centers, a move they fear will mean Langtry is lost for good.
