Case dropped against cop accused of cover-up
By Craig Kapitan - Express-News
The Bexar County district attorney's office has dismissed its case
against a San Antonio police sergeant accused of helping cover up a
bizarre incident last year involving a colleague found without pants
near his wrecked city vehicle.
Sgt. Ramiro H. Garcia,
53, had faced up to 10 years in prison on the tampering with evidence
charge. He remains on temporary suspension without pay, a Police
Department spokesperson said Friday.
Prosecutors signed a motion to dismiss Garcia's only charge Thursday afternoon — three months after he and fellow Sgt. Joseph Earl Myers, 53, were indicted.
