DWI suspect critically hurt in wreck

A man is clinging to life this morning and facing intoxication assault charges after he caused a head-on collision Thursday night, police said.
Officer Matthew Porter said Edgar Abrego, 28, was traveling south on Bulverde Road near Evans Road in a Toyota 4Runner about 10:40 p.m. when he crossed into the northbound lane and hit a pickup.
Witnesses said the pickup's driver, Robert Mack, 45, tried to avoid the 4Runner but couldn't get out of the way.
