Comal County to mark completion of Krueger Dam
NEW BRAUNFELS — Invitations have been sent for a dedication ceremony for the Dry Comal Creek Flood Retarding Structure — a.k.a. Krueger Canyon dam — to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
The invitation-only event will mark the completion of the 12-year effort to build the dam, located off Farm-to-Market Road 482 west of New Braunfels.
The $23 million flood-control project, finished in late 2012, is designed to hold back floodwaters and cut flood heights on Dry Comal Creek. The dam is the sixth county dam in the watersheds above New Braunfels. It is the fifth dam on the Dry Comal Creek watershed, and protects the final uncontrolled tributary of the Dry Comal that threatens New Braunfels with floodwaters.
