Leap of faith?

What makes someone, not only one but two!, do this?

What made them think this would be a great idea?  Was it testosterone?

Well we'll never know for sure, they're dead.  My condolences to the families, I am sorry for your loss.

Two men die in river after jumping from railroad trestle

NEW BRAUNFELS - New Braunfels Fire Department battalion chief Darren Brinkkoeter stood on the Faust Street footbridge early Wednesday afternoon, gazing down at the fast-moving Guadalupe River. He'd been up all night, directing the search for two young tourists who disappeared under those waters just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, after leaping from a railroad trestle just upriver from the Mill Dam.

A couple of hours had passed since Brinkkoeter had done what he says is the hardest part of his job. He called off the search and rescue efforts, implemented recovery efforts and called the parents of Nikos Paraskevopoulos and Derek Joel-Nelson Clemens to tell them their sons were dead.
