Bomb suspect staying in jail

A federal judge on Friday refused to grant bond to a 36-year-old San Antonio mother charged with possessing a pipe bomb found by her ex-husband at his Northwest Bexar County home — which was targeted three times with homemade explosive devices in a month.

U.S. Magistrate Judge John Primomo said he could not make out whether a woman captured on video surveillance placing a pipe bomb at the home on Aug. 30 was Tami Lyn Hernandez, also known as Tami Lyn Williams.

But the judge said federal authorities had convinced him that they had probable cause to arrest Hernandez on a charge of illegally possessing an unregistered destructive device, and that she should be denied bond because she is a danger to the community.
