Max sentence in River Walk strangling

A salesman from Florida was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday for strangling his girlfriend inside a posh River Walk hotel two years ago as the two argued over his substance abuse problem.
John Eric Ginn, 46, had asked 379th District Judge Ron Rangel for mercy — describing the Nov. 19, 2007, murder as a combination of a blackout and an out-of-body experience that resulted from introducing alcohol into his system after a week of abstinence.
