Stop or I'll shoot!

Apparently the defendant had started to drive off and dragged the deputy on the pavement.

Pretty scary, glad the deputy wasn't hurt. It will be interesting to see aht the investigation reveals.

Deputy shoots fleeing assault suspect in leg

A Bexar County sheriff's deputy shot and seriously injured a man early Saturday, authorities said.

Deputy Joseph Saenz, who was off-duty and working as a security guard at the Las Villas de Merida Apartments in the 1700 block of South Hamilton, was trying to resolve a disturbance about 12:40 a.m. when he shot 22-year-old Ronnie Regalato in his left leg, according to a news release issued by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Regalato was charged with assault on a public servant and had two felony warrants on charges of assault bodily injury-family, with total bond set at $85,000.
