Trish Gray said she just wanted to help her boyfriend.

She said she'd watched over him during a four-day drug and alcohol binge at a Northeast Side motel room that ended early Friday when he was killed by two officers he engaged in a shootout.

“He just needed help,” Gray said of the man, who she declined to name. “I couldn't give it to him.”
