Doing the courtroom shuffle

Quite an undertaking but it does make sense to house all of the criminal courts in the Cadena-Reeves Justice Center because it was designed to handle and secure criminal defendants, including jail cells and secure elevators.


Courthouse shuffle suddenly on hold

A major reorganization at the Bexar County Courthouse is near completion and will move all criminal courts from the century-old structure to a neighboring building.

The $11 million shuffle involves relocating all remaining criminal state district courts and county courts-at-law to the Cadena-Reeves Justice Center.

The massive move, involving eight courtrooms that will reside on the recently renovated fourth floor of the justice center, initially was slated to take place later this week. The final step was signaled by moving bins stacked in back offices throughout the two buildings last week.
