Of course it appears that the driver that did this had been drinking.

What are the odds?

Driver rams into 'Booze it & Lose it' unit
Charlotte Observer -

NEWTON, N.C. – A Hickory man is waiting to hear the list of charges he’ll face after slamming into a DWI mobile command center Sunday morning.

The incident happened on US 321 at the intersection of 9th street around 2:45am. Law enforcement were conducting a DWI checkpoint when a 1989 red Camaro rammed into the back of the "Booze it and Lose it" mobile unit. We're told people were inside the unit at the time, but thankfully no one was injured.

Newton police tell NewsChannel 36, 21-year Douglas Shane Southard was driving the Camaro. Shane was transported to Catawba Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

This is why I never drive my Ferrari with other Ferraris

Oh man, this sucks big time.

I'm sure somebody's insurance company is gonna take a big hit.

Fleet of Ferraris ruined in Japan sportscar pile-up
Associated Press -

TOKYO (AP) — An outing of luxury sportscar enthusiasts in Japan ended in an expensive freeway pileup — smashing a stunning eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and two Mercedes likely worth more than $1 million together.

Police say they believe the accident Sunday was touched off when the driver of one of the Ferraris tried to change lanes and hit the median barrier. He spun across the freeway, and the other cars collided while trying to avoid hitting his car.

Video of the crash aired by NTV, a major national network, showed several smashed, bright red Ferraris cluttering the freeway.

The Bureau of Stupid Bureaucrats

Really?

You're not sure if the impairment is permanent?

What part of his legs were amputated do you fail to grasp?

Legless man denied wheelchair
The Local -

Podiatrist is apparently a heel

Another UCC believer.  i.e. everything is commercial contract and I do not have to obey the law basically.

Podiatrist handed 14-day sentence
Doctor wrote on indictment issued against him.
By Zeke MacCormack - Express-News

BOERNE — Donald E. Robinson, a podiatrist described by law officers as a sovereign citizen extremist, was sentenced this week to 14 days in jail at one of Kendall County's quickest trials in memory.

Representing himself in the two-hour proceeding, Robinson called no witnesses and didn't dispute writing on an indictment issued against him in a separate case, which prosecutors claimed constituted tampering with a government record.

“Accept for value — Return for value,” Robinson wrote on the indictment.

The Holocaust: Still killing folks 66 years later

This sounds pretty open and shut to me, at least as to the theft of the documents and the like.

Lawsuit:  Thefts spurred Holocaust expert's death
By Craig Kapitan - Express-News

Fighting cancer and reeling from the recent pilfering of his life's work, internationally known Holocaust researcher Harry Mazal spent his last months “devastated, despondent and consumed with stress and anxiety,” according to court documents filed this week.

The lawsuit, initiated by his widow on behalf of his estate and The Mazal Holocaust Library — one of the largest collections of Holocaust documents in the world — seeks an injunction barring further sale of missing documents, as well as financial compensation for Mazal's mental anguish and items that have not been recovered.

Mazal, 74, died in August, eight months after intern Mansal Denton, 21, was arrested and charged with stealing between $100,000 and $200,000 from the Hill Country Village-based nonprofit. Denton, who is awaiting trial, could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Puppy robbery

Apparently it was a real dog of a case.

Jury acquits alleged puppy-snatcher
His attorney said he mistook dog for one he'd lost earlier.
By Craig Kapitan - Express-News

Jurors on Friday acquitted a man accused of dog-snatching who had faced a felony conviction and up to 20 years in prison in an incident two years ago in which Marley, a pit-bull puppy, disappeared.

Dominick Eugene Flaggs, 22, admitted on the witness stand this week that he took the puppy from Jessica Carillo, who was then 16, as she walked the pooch through her Converse neighborhood in February 2009.

But he didn't make her cry and didn't push her to the ground as she testified, he said. He said he was sure — still is, in fact — that she was walking Sampson, his own pit pull puppy who had escaped four miles away about two weeks earlier.

Yeah, Happy Holidays alright.

This is just pathetic.

Copper thieves steal from St. Paul holiday lights display
CBS-Minnesota

ST. PAUL (WCCO) — Electric cords have been cut and stolen from the lighted displays in St. Paul’s Phalen Park this week.

According to a representative of IBEW Holiday Lights, the thieves cut both heavy and light duty electric cords, costing the event more than $2,500 to replace.

“One of the tragedies of the thefts is that the cost of replacing cords means there is less for us to donate to our worthy non-profits,” said Lisa Engh, event co-chair. “All of our net proceeds go straight to charities that benefit our community so this hurts on many levels.”

The rest of the story:

Slippery little fellow, ain't he?

Well this explains how he got away.

He should have stayed in the vehicle because now he's probably going to have a felony escape charge added and he was severely injured.

Of course it probably means he'll be collecting social security disability payments for the rest of his life and we'll get to foot the bill.

Police:  Suspect escaped through patrol car window
He suffered broken back, head injuries in escape attempt.
By Eva Ruth Moravec - Express-News

A man who jumped off Interstate 35 while fleeing from San Antonio police Monday, after he'd wriggled out of the back window of a patrol car in handcuffs on the East Side, remains hospitalized days later, officials said.

Johnathan Andrew Gomez, 20, was in stable condition at San Antonio Military Medical Center with a broken back and head injuries, according to San Antonio police and a SAMMC spokesman. He was booked by proxy at the hospital on one count of escape but already has posted $5,000 bail on the charge and no longer is in custody, county records show.

Gomez's actions snarled traffic on I-35 near Splashtown for hours Monday after he jumped off a bridge and fell about 50 feet onto the grassy bank of Salado Creek. Gomez had escaped from the officer at a nearby gas station and hitched a ride in a produce truck until police stopped the truck on the bridge, according to a police report.

Welcome to San Antonio

Sorry about the loss.

I hope this doesn't affect their chances of claiming a second National Championship for their coach.

Good luck!

For Ohio Wesleyan soccer team, 'we wuz robbed' is pre-game
Team's van broken into in Lincoln Heights.
By Jerry Briggs and Eva Ruth Moravec - Express-News

At least Ohio Wesleyan Coach Jay Martin hasn't lost his sense of humor.

Martin needs to win two games in San Antonio this weekend to capture his second NCAA Division III national title.

He also needs two wins to become the all-time leader in victories by a college soccer coach.

Why is this man smiling?

Ernesto Zavala Cerna, the face of the (alleged) turkey killer.

What kind of an asshole feels the need to go choke a turkey to death and throw it in a stream?

Oh and apparently an asshole that doesn't pay his child-support so there was a warrant out for his arrest.

The kicker is he is employed in the Comal County Courthouse Restoration Project.

Most likely not for much longer.

Man in turkey-choking incident identified
By Dalondo Moultrie The Herald-Zeitung

NEW BRAUNFELS — Few details trickled out Thursday from law enforcement personnel concerning the famed Landa Park turkey killed last week.

The man cited with illegal possession of a live game bird is Ernesto Zavala Cerna, a 53-year-old San Antonio resident.

Search during trial hearing continues

I can't imagine that this will end well for the State and some of its employees.

Attorney: Trial was tainted by search
Lawyer says prosecutor rifling through defense table "unsettled" him.
By Craig Kapitan - Express-News

Defense attorney Tony Reyes was in the middle of calling witnesses for his client's embezzlement trial last January when, during a jury break, a district attorney's office employee served him with a search warrant signed by a judge in another courtroom.

State District Judge Ron Rangel told Reyes to stand back as a prosecutor then began sifting through documents on the defense table, the attorney recalled Wednesday as he testified at a hearing for his client's motion for a new trial.

The tactic — in which Reyes was named a criminal suspect alongside his client on the search warrant — was so unheard of and shocking that it obliterated his ability to zealously defend his client, he and a large team of attorneys have alleged during sporadic hearings over the past month.

Copping a plea

This was the most prudent thing for him to do IMHO.

Cop takes plea in sex case
He also gets deferred adjudication in case involving woman accosted for sex.
By Jessica Kwong - Express-News

A police officer accused of accosting an 18-year-old woman for sex after she was targeted for a drug arrest four years ago pleaded no contest Wednesday to one count of official oppression and will lose his Texas peace officer's license.

Rather than go before a jury that was empaneled a day earlier, Victor Gonzalez, 40, a six-year SAPD veteran, entered a plea agreement in which four counts of official oppression were dismissed.

His sentence includes one year of deferred adjudication probation, a $500 fine and 50 hours of community service.

Why can't folks leave well enough alone?

Really?  Why would someone have to go and do this?

Man cited in death of legendary Landa Park turkey
By Greg Bowen - The Herald-Zeitung

NEW BRAUNFELS — A San Antonio man has been ticketed in the death of the wild turkey that had been making its home in Landa Park since late summer and had become a favorite attraction with park visitors.

Comal County Game Warden Brent Satsky said the turkey died after the man grabbed it by the neck, shook it and tossed it into the park’s Wading Pool.
