Three running for County Judge

From the three articles in today's Herald Zeitung with links to each.

Also they are in no particular order.

Good luck.

3 men vie for county judge seat
-

Sherman Krause:

In June, Sherman Krause formally announced what he called the “worst kept secret in Comal County” — his candidacy for county judge.

When current County Judge Danny Scheel announced he would not seek re-election, some assumed Krause was a natural fit to fill the county’s highest office, as the former tax assessor-collector and someone heavily involved in community affairs.

Eight months later, he’s now embroiled in what could be a close race to fill the middle seat on the Commissioners Court dais.

Glen Peterson:

Since announcing his candidacy for Comal County Judge in June, Glen Peterson has come out swinging in his first attempt at politics.

In eight months, the local attorney led a successful petition drive to have the downtown justice center put to a vote, and has been pounding the campaign trail ever since, with his “People’s Judge” campaign signs dominating yards and street corners throughout New Braunfels.

He has been a vocal critic of almost every plan and decision of the current Commissioners Court and has been making bold campaign promises.

Douglas Kirk:

Douglas Kirk surprised many people with his last-minute filing to run for Comal County Judge. In the process, he added some intrigue into what was a two-man race.

The Bulverde-based newspaper publisher fought his share of battles with Comal County government in recent years, and has used his newsprint to wage those battles — often evoking heated responses from residents and county officials.

“The name Douglas Kirk produces a visceral reaction in most people,” Kirk said Saturday at the New Braunfels Republican Women’s candidate forum. “People either love me or they hate me, which is OK, because I’ll represent all of you.”
