Is he the Kwisatz Haderach?

Okay excuse my very obscure reference to the Dune series and no, Scott Brown is not Maud'dib or the Kwisatz Haderach.

However may I be permitted to speak my mind.

This isn't just a win for the GOP, in the larger picture this is a win for the American people.

This past year has really shown the inherent danger of having one party in control of the Senate and the House (Legislative Branch) as well as the Presidency (Executive Branch).

Say what you will but do not think for one second that the Republicans wouldn't have tried to ram through what it wanted had the situation been reversed. Both parties have equal culpability, or I should say equal tendencies.

That is why the Founding Fathers, in their 'infinite' wisdom devised the system of what we call 'checks and balances' between the three branches of government (Legislative, Executive and Judicial)

Governing is done best (sorry arch-conservative Republicans) when each party is weak enough to have to seek support from the other to get bills passed and to make laws and policies. It is through this series of compromises, the merging of myriad ideas, and policy positions that make the American system the best the World has seen to date, in my opinion.

Each side has meritorious ideas and positions. The system as designed and if implemented allows the best plans to emerge victorious.

Congratulations Senator-elect Scott Brown.

I hope your election allows some semblance of sanity to restore itself in Congress and put a halt to precipitous change for change sake.

GOP wins Mass. Senate seat in epic upset
By Glen Johnson and Liz Sidoti - Associated Press

BOSTON — In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to win the U.S. Senate seat held by the late Edward M. Kennedy for nearly half a century, leaving President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marring the end of his first year in office.

Addressing an exuberant victory celebration Tuesday night, Brown declared he was "ready to go to Washington without delay" as the crowd chanted, "Seat him now." Democrats indicated they would, deflating a budding controversy over whether they would try to block Brown long enough to complete congressional passage of the health care plan he has promised to oppose.

"The people of Massachusetts have spoken. We welcome Scott Brown to the Senate and will move to seat him as soon as the proper paperwork has been received," said Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin said he would notify the Senate on Wednesday that Brown had been elected.
