Official polling results of Tuesday’s primary race for 25th Judicial District Attorney showed Seguin lawyer Heather Hollub with about 54 percent of the total vote.

The 25th Judicial District spans Gonzales and Lavaca counties as well as Guadalupe County, which includes several precincts in south and southeast New Braunfels.According to official results, some of which were unavailable at press time Tuesday, Hollub won with nearly 56 percent of the total vote in Guadalupe County, and 63 percent in Lavaca County. Pattillo won by about 71 percent in Gonzales County, however, where a surplus of provisional votes were hand-counted into the morning hours. “We had to make emergency ballots because we didn’t anticipate the high turnout, “ said Guadalupe County Clerk Lee Riedel, who attributed the relatively large number of local voters to contested sheriff and constable elections.

Unless a late challenger enters the contest before November, Hollub, who has been publicly endorsed by the Seguin and Texas Municipal police officers associations, will run uncontested in the general election. “We’re looking forward to working with law enforcement as a team to aggressively represent victims,” Hollub said Tuesday, after learning she’d unofficially won the primary.
