Illegal legal advice, an oxymoron?

The quote below begs the question:

Is it okay to run an illegal law firm and make only a little money or lose money?

Is he offended they kept the money? What if they gave it back?

How about It is not okay to run an illegal firm, period, end of story?

Of course if they hadn't made a lot of money nobody in the legal community probably would have cared or noticed.

Watchdog latest to sue over 'illegal law firm'

John MacCormack: Express-News
In the latest legal blow to Mauricio Celis and his various law firm partners, the committee that polices the unauthorized practice of law in Texas has sued them in Nueces County.

Filed late last week, the lawsuit names Celis, five Corpus Christi lawyers and the CGT Law Group International, a law firm Celis formed two years ago.

The lawsuit accuses Celis, who is not a lawyer, and the others of illegally practicing law together. It asks that they be restrained from such activities, and it demands that they return money collected from their clients.

“You should not be able to run an illegal law firm, make a bunch of money, and then say, ‘I'm sorry, we won't do it again,' and keep the money,” said Mark Ticer, a Dallas lawyer who represents the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, an investigative arm of the Texas Supreme Court.
