Man charged in pot-growing bust

The Hays County Narcotics Task Force arrested a 26-year-old man on felony marijuana possession charges Thursday and seized 281 marijuana plants growing in his home and 3 pounds of marijuana.

Gilbert VanZandt V is being held in the Hays County jail on $100,000 bond.

The task force served a search warrant on the 100 block of Redbud Trail on Thursday and found the entire upstairs of the three-bedroom home had been converted into a sophisticated growing operation, producing high-grade marijuana, said Sgt. Chase Stapp of the San Marcos Police Department.

VanZandt is charged with possession of less than 50 pounds but more than 5 pounds, a third-degree felony
