Look out! Stupid criminals working here

Pretty dangerous situation here.

These labs are not only chemically toxic and harmful to your respiratory system they also have a tendency, at times, to blow up. So having one at a motel is not only criminally stupid but potentially life-threatening.

San Antonio police arrested two people Wednesday evening after busting a suspected methamphetamine lab being run out of a hotel room on Interstate 35.

James Earl Sawyer, 49, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and arrested on an outstanding warrant from Bandera County for terroristic threats, according to police and jail records.

Rochel Maurice, 32, was charged with two counts of endangering a child and resisting arrest, according to police and jail records. Both remained jailed Thursday.

Sgt. Paul Biasiolli said members of the Police Department's Tactical Response Unit were led to the lab about 9:45 p.m. by Sawyer, who they stopped in the parking lot of the Motel 6 in the 5500 block of I-35 North near Rittiman Road.

The officers said they found drugs on Sawyer and that he told them his belongings were in one of the rooms. When police opened the door, they smelled strong odors that they recognized as being produced during the manufacture of meth, Biasiolli said. Maurice was inside with two young children.

Biasiolli said the children, whose ages weren't available, were taken to a hospital as a precaution. Police also notified Child Protective Services.
