San Antonio soldier killed in Afghanistan
By Michelle Mondo - Express-NewsParents of a 19-year-old soldier born and raised in San Antonio confirmed that he was killed last week while serving his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Army Pfc. John Andrade arrived in Afghanistan at the end of June and was a driver for a Stryker unit, according to his mother, Betty Jean Brockway-Martinez.
She said her son called her Friday and said he and others had been hit by an improvised explosive device but that he was fine.
