A tireless advocate for abused children and victims of family violence

That she is a zealous advocate on the behalf of children and victims of family violence is an understatement.

DA: Serving as advocate for kids, families ‘serious’ task

Comal County Criminal District Attorney Jennifer Tharp has long advocated for the rights of abused children and victims of family violence.

Her  focus on children and their families was recognized by the state last June, with an appointment to the Governor’s Parental Rights Advisory Panel. This panel of nine members, chaired by Gregory Wilhelm of Midlothian, was created after an upsetting search and arduous court battle where a Dallas father, desperately sought law enforcement’s help to locate his missing child.

The incident, underscoring Texas parents’ lack of legal standing where court orders are not in existence was reported to District 63 state Rep. Tan Parker who, with the findings and recommendations of the Parental Rights Advisory Panel, authored House Bill 1206.
